Obituary of John Dorman
DORMAN, John (Jack) A. IV of Ridgewood, NJ passed away at the age of 68 at Valley Hospital on August 9, 2007. Jack was born and raised in Rutherford, NJ. He was president of the Rutherford HS class of 1957. Following his graduation from Lafayette College in 1961, he rose through the ranks to become the president of Chemical Bank of New Jersey and retired as president of loans at Independence Bank of Newark, NJ. He retired in 2005 after a successful career of 44 years in banking. He was a trustee of the Northern New Jersey Chapter of the Leukemia Society of America, a member of the Montclair State College Advisory Board of the Friends of the School of Fine and Performing Arts, the Cooper's Ferry Development Association of Camden NJ, and the Bergen Council of Boy Scouts of America. Jack was an active member of the Lafayette College Alumni association and a longtime member of the Rutherford Elks BPOE 547. He was a parishioner at Mount Carmel RC Church, Ridgewood NJ. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Marylou (Burke) Dorman, his children John A. Dorman V (Ridgewood NJ), Kathleen A. Dorman (Denver, CO), Douglas A. Dorman and wife Roxanne D. Dorman (Kitty Hawk, NC), Elizabeth (Amy) A. Fralley and husband Drew G. Fralley and grandsons Kyle and Tyler Fralley (Waldwick NJ). He is also survived by his brothers Thomas (Ted) E. Dorman (Sanibel Island, Fl) , Jerry M. Dorman (Kitty Hawk NC), and William J. Dorman and sister-in-law Susan Dorman (Landisville, PA) and sister-in-law Kathleen E. Dorman (Oneida NY). He was preceded in death by his loving brother Richard P. Dorman and sister Barbara G. McCarty. Also surviving are 13 nieces and nephews and their spouses. Friends may visit with the family on Friday August 10th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ www.vpfh.com. Mass will be held on Saturday August 11th at 9:30 a.m. at Mount Carmel RC Church, 1 Passaic Street, Ridgewood, NJ. Interment will follow in the Redeemer Cemetery in Mahwah. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Bergen unit, 20 Mercer St., Hackensack, NJ 07601, or Lafayette College, Development Office, 307 Merkle Hall, Easton, PA 18042.
