Obituary of Dorothy Roughgarden

ROUGHGARDEN, Dorothy 84, died Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Mt. St. Joseph Long Term Care Community in Waterville, Maine. Funeral services will be at Olthuis Funeral Home 159 Godwin Ave. Midland Park, N. J., on Saturday, March 28 at noon. Visitation will be at 11. Interment will be at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, N.J. Dorothy was born November 11, 1924 in Somerville, N.J., daughter of Linden and Hazel (Hagaman) Kinney. She was a lifelong resident of Midland Park and graduated from Pompton Lakes High School in 1942. She was predeceased by her husband, Cornelius "Pinky" Roughgarden, and her granddaughter, Cara Roughgarden. Surviving family members are her son, Richard Roughgarden, and his wife, Mimi, of Palermo, ME; her daughter, Nancy Tabaka , and her husband, Martin, of Winchester, VA ; and her son, Paul Roughgarden, of Montague, N.J.; her grandchildren, Todd Roughgarden, and his wife, Sarah, of Bowdoinham, ME; Adam Tabaka of Alexandria, VA ; David Tabaka of Arlington, VA ; and her brother, Donald Kinney, of Tinton Falls, N.J.; a niece and several nephews ; also her dear cousin, Al Condo, and his wife Ginni. Dorothy was employed by King Auto Parts, Ho Ho Kus, N.J. as an office manager for over 25 years. She was an active member and officer of the Midland Park Senior Citizens, and past officer of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary. Throughout her life Dot enjoyed traveling extensively and spending time with her family and many friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to Richard Roughgarden P.O. Box 57 Palermo, ME 04354. All donations will go to the Kieve Leadership School which benefits junior high students. These donations will perpetuate a memorial fund which was established in memory of Dorothy's beloved granddaughter, Cara Roughgarden.
