Obituary of Edward Cooper

COOPER, Edward W., age 80, died on Tuesday, February 24, 2009. Born in Haledon, he lived in Ridgewood until moving to Upper Saddle River in 1966. Edward served in the US Navy from 1946 to 1948 during WWII then again from 1951 to 1952 during the Korean War. Edward was the Vice Principal of Leonia High School for the Leonia Board of Education until he retired in 1983. Among many hobbies, he bred and showed Old English Sheepdogs and was a Life member of the Ramapo Kennel Club, where he served as President from 1992 to 1994 and again 1995 to 1996. As an avid motorhomer he was a Life Member of the Good Sam Club, member of the Family Motor Coach Association and 4 of its chapters: Metropolitan, 20th Century Wagontrainers, Ontario Overlanders and Coaches for Christ. Edward also attended the Hawthorne Gospel Church. Edward is survived by his loving wife, Jean V. (nee Trotta), and his 8 cousins from Canada, Carolyn Cooper, David Cooper, Donald Cooper, Edward Cooper, Stephen Cooper, June Hicks, James Hunt, and Allan Leeder. Visiting hours will be Friday, 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ, www.vpfh.com. Funeral service is 10:30am Saturday at the Vander Plat Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the George Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions made to the American Bible Society, 1865 Broadway, New York, NY 10023, would be appreciated.
