Obituary of Ralph Nienhouse

NIENHOUSE, Ralph age 89 of Waldwick, died peacefully on Christmas Day at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. Ralph was born in the Netherlands on January 27, 1919. Ralph was a resident of Waldwick for more than 50 years. Along with his sons Ralph owned and operated R. Nienhouse and Sons Excavating in Waldwick. He was a charter member of the Irving Park Christian Reformed Church in Midland Park where he served as both Elder and Deacon. He later became a member of the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church and the Senior Crusaders of the Church. Ralph served his country during World War II in the United States Army during the European Theater. Mr. Nienhouse enjoyed more than 20 years of volunteer work with the Paterson Habitat for Humanity. Surviving are his devoted children, Annamae and her husband George Dykstra of Chichester, NH, Janice Leswing of Waldwick, Carol and her husband Jim Kane of Riverdale, Ralph Nienhouse, Jr. and his wife Linda of Barrington, NH, Robert Nienhouse and his wife Lise' of Farmington, NH, Edward Nienhouse and his wife Patti, and Kenneth Nienhouse all of Waldwick. Ralph also leaves 15 Grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and his brothers Ernie and John Nienhouse. Ralph was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Jeanette (nee Dykstra) in 2003. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10:00 am at the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, 182 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park. Interment will follow in the Laurel Grove Memorial Park in Totowa. Visiting is Tuesday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ.
