Obituary of Michael Franolich

FRANOLICH, Michael, age 86, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2008. Born in Croatia, he lived in New York City before settling in Wyckoff more than 30 years ago. Michael was Captain of tug boats with Poling Brothers, Staten Island, NY. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church of Wyckoff and earlier of St. Francis of Assisi R.C. Church of Astoria, Queens. He served his country during World War II with the United States Army in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. Michael is survived by his beloved wife Margaret (nee Milcetic) to whom he was married for 56 wonderful years, and his four sons: John of Langhorne, PA: Joseph of Butler: Michael of Moorestown: and Richard of Wyckoff. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Grace, Michael, and Michaela. Friends may visit the family on Monday, 2-4 and 6:30-9:30 PM at Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. Funeral Service, Tuesday, 9:15 AM at the funeral home followed by funeral mass, 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, NJ. Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Bergen Unit, 20 Mercer Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601.
