Obituary of Helen Mahany

MAHANY, Helen T. (nee Harmon) age 95 of Whiting, NJ, formerly of Wyckoff died peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2008 at Manchester Manor in Lakehurst, NJ. Helen was born in Paterson on November 22, 1913. She was a member of the 1930 graduating class of St. John's High School in Paterson. Helen worked as a secretary for Samuel Braen and Son in Wyckoff and was a sales representative for McHugh's in Ridgewood before moving to Ocean County. Helen was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth's R. C. Church in Wyckoff and St. Elizabeth's Ann Seton of Whiting, NJ. Surviving are her daughters, Maureen Hopkins and Janet Taylor, her son-in-law Gary Taylor and her son Brian Mahany. Helen is also survived by her six grandchildren, Kevin Mahany and his wife Maria, Colleen Hujus and her husband Richard, Shelley Radtke and her husband Joseph, Raymond Bowman and his companion Gina Gebert, Tracy Rauth and her husband James and Kimberly Mahoney and her fiance' Chistopher Locke and four step grandchildren, Karen and her husband Richard, Nicholas and his wife Donna, Richard and his wife Rachel and Nancy and her husband Steve. She also leaves her eleven great grandchildren, Brianne, Joseph, McGwire, Megan, Michael, Trey, Willow, Regis, Skylar, Jimmy and Kylie and eight step great grandchildren, Amanda, Melissa, Kaitlyn, Susannah, Justin, Stephanie, Grace and Gabrielle. Helen was pre-deceased by her husband Richard in 1960, her brothers, Jeremiah in 1967 and James Harmon in 1997, and her son-in-law Kenneth Hopkins in 2002. She was a loving, caring mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by all. Helen was a bright shining star who will continue to shine in her families hearts forever. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 29, 2008 at 9:30 am from the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral mass will follow 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Interment will be in the Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ. Visiting is Sunday, December 28, 2008, 2:00 until 5:00 pm.
