Obituary of Wilhelmina G. Kwak

Wilhelmina G. Kwak, passed away peacefully Friday October 3, 2008 at the Oneonta Nursing Home, Oneonta, NY after a long illness. She was born on March 25, 1917 in the Netherlands and was married to Claas Kwak in 1938, he predeceased her in 1985. They immigrated to the United States of America in 1953. She lived most of her life in the Ramsey, NJ area. Wilhelmina was a seamstress/ taylor who loved to sew and design clothes. She also enjoyed knitting and won ribbons in the NJ State Fair for her work. Wilhelmina sang in the Paterson Lyric Opera Company, the First Reformed Church of Ridgewood, NJ and the Philharmonic Choir, Paterson, NJ. She taught the dutch language at the Berlitz School. Wilhelmina loved her family and family gatherings. She is survived by 5 children: Mary Van Der Krake and Fred Braun (Unadilla, NY), John and Minke Kwak (Gardiner, NY), Nick and Marlene Kwak (Mahwah, NJ), Tonia Shainberg (Masonville, NY) and Wilhelmina Mankovich (Maple Shade, NJ).13 grandchildren: Daniel Meyer, Kenneth Meyer, Douglas Meyer, Scott Meyer, David Kwak, Eric Kwak, Kathy Donals, Randy Regan, Daniel Regan, Mark Burke, David Shainberg, Jessica Schymanski, and Stanley Mankovich, III; 21 great grandchildren; and a sister Mary Van Allen of Delaware. She was predeceased by a son, Arnold Kwak, a grandson Ronald Regan a granddaughter Margaret (Peggy) Kwak-Pasquino, a sister, Josephine DuFourney and a brother, Nick VanderHorst. Friends are invited to call on Monday, October 6, 2008 from ¬2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Olthuis Funeral Home 159 Godwin Avenue Midland Park, NJ 07432. Friends may also call on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 from 10:00am-11:00am at the funeral home. Funeral service will follow at 11:00am at the funeral home.
