Obituary of Joe B. Akers
Akers, Joe B. age 87 of Midland Park died Tuesday, September 29, 2008. Born in Nevada, Missouri he lived in Midland Park for 42 years.
Joe was an Iron Construction Worker for Victory Iron Works, Wyckoff for 40 years. Joe served in the US Navy for 25 years. He was a member of VFW Post 7086, Midland Park, NJ. He attended Hawthorne Gospel Church, Hawthorne, NJ. Surviving is his daughter, Jo Butcher of Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. Also surviving are his two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and his three great great grandchildren, his sisters in law, Mae Marchese, Teresa Edson and Lee Akers. He was predeceased by his loving wife Martha (nee Edson) Akers in 2006 and his brothers, Earl Akers and James Akers. Visiting Friday 2 - 4 at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, New Jersey. Funeral Service Friday at 4 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Private Interment will follow on Saturday.
