Obituary of Ruth Scherer

SCHERER, Ruth A. "Dolly" (nee Fallon) died peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2008. Born in Montclair, she also lived in East Orange before settling in Wyckoff 58 years ago. Dolly was a homemaker and a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a long-time faithful parishioner of St. Elizabeth R.C. Church, Wyckoff, where she served in the Aid to the Confined Society of the church and was a former chairperson. In her early twenties, Dolly won the honor of Miss Television at the 1939 World's Fair. Dolly is survived by her beloved husband John W. "Bill" to whom she was married for 69 wonderful years, her loving son William M. Scherer, D.D.S. "Bill" and wife Lorraine of Montville and her four dear grandchildren Billy, Georgine, Danny, and Christina. Family and friends are invited to a memorial mass, celebrating Dolly's life on Saturday, September 6, 2008, 11:30 AM at St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave. Wyckoff. Cremation was private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Wyckoff Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 214 Wyckoff, NJ 07481-0214, would be appreciated.
