Obituary of Alma Aspiotis

ASPIOTIS, Alma (nee Babcock) age 82 of Waldwick, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 with her daughter, Dora by her side. Born in Cornwall, NY where she grew up, Alma moved to Waldwick 40 years ago. In her early career Alma worked as a hostess and banquet manager for the Tides Restaurant in North Haledon. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her passion and gourmet cooking was her favorite pastime. Alma was a true humanitarian; she would help anyone in need. Surviving are her devoted daughters, Dora Weber and her husband Edward of Waldwick and Laura Cunnane and her husband Gary of Brick, NJ. Alma also leaves her two loving grandchildren Gregory Weber and his wife Erica, and their children Timothy, Abigayle and Madison, and Eric Weber and his fiancé Jen Escribens. Also surviving is her sister Ruth Sloan of Hodgenville, KY. Alma was pre-deceased by her husband Louis T. Aspiotis in 2013 and her siblings, Ellsworth, Hazel, Caroline, Joseph, Alan, Thomas, Mary, Harold, and Joan. She was also pre-deceased by her first husband William A. Weiss in 1968. The Aspiotis family will receive friends on Thursday, 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. The funeral service will be Friday 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Memorial contributions may be made in Alma's name to the Staff Sgt. Joseph D'Augustine Memorial Fund (www.ssjdmf.com).
