Obituary of Roy A. Busch
Busch, Roy A. age 92 of Ho-Ho-Kus died Monday, August 10, 2015. Born in Hoboken, NJ, before moving to Ho-Ho-Kus over 61 years ago. Roy was a graduate of AJ Demarest High School in Hoboken, where he served as class president and also starred on both the basketball and baseball teams. After graduating from the Casey Jones School of Aeronautics he was employed by Pan American World Airways in New York for over 40 years. He once casually told us the story of the time he gave Charles Lindbergh a personal tour of the Pan Am facilities in New York. During WWII he was on loan to the Navy, while employed by Pan Am, serving in the Azores. Roy was an active member of the Community Church of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ for over 67 years, serving as both a Deacon and an Elder, and singing in the church choir. He made homemade soup for the Ash Wednesday Communion Soup Supper for over 20 years. He was an avid sports fan and loved his Yankees, NY Giants and the NY Rangers. He also attended almost every high school soccer game in Bergen County, always giving friendly advice to the coaches. In fact he is the only spectator we know of to be given a yellow card for excess enthusiasm from the sideline. He pitched on several semi pro baseball teams, once pitched both games of a doubleheader and even had a tryout with the St Louis Cardinals. One of Roy's favorite things was his tomato garden. He was known to leave brown bags of tomatoes on neighbors and friends doorsteps every August! Surviving is his wife of over 65 years, Deborah (nee Keyes) Busch of Ho-Ho-Kus, his son, Jeffrey (Nancy) Busch of Trumbull, CT, his daughters, Jeanne (Bruce) Hamlin of Totowa, NJ and Laura (Bob) Morris of Stewartsville, NJ and his daughter in law, Lisa Busch Greenberg of Old Tappan, NJ, his brother, Walter Busch of Franklin Lakes. Also surviving are his 8 grandchildren, Todd and Jill Hamlin, Andrew and David Busch, Amanda Morris Hodge and Kelly Morris, Jack and Emma Busch. He was predeceased by his sons, David Edward Busch and Peter Dunton Busch. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Community Church of Ho-Ho-Kus, 400 Warren Ave. Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ. Private interment at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations to Centennial Capital Campaign of the Community Church of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ, 400 Warren Ave. Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ 07423 would be appreciated.
