Obituary of Edward Zeman
ZEMAN
Edward, 96, of Midland Park, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, died peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2015, after a brief illness. Born in Guttenberg, New Jersey, he lived in North Bergen before moving to Midland Park in 1962. He served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945 during World War II and was discharged as a First Sergeant. He was awarded a Purple Heart after the Battle of the Bulge in the Verdennes Forest of Belgium. Following the war, he was employed at Blickman Health Industries from which he retired in 2002 as the shipping manager. For many years he served as the head usher at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glen Rock.
Surviving is his devoted wife of 58 years, Margaret, of Midland Park, and his two daughters Mary Beth Zeman and her husband Michael Budinsky of Wyckoff and Christine and her husband Richard Diehl of Westwood. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Stephen and Katherine Budinsky and Laura and Kevin Diehl, and one brother, William Zeman of California. He was predeceased by his parents Stefan and Susan Zeman, brothers Stephen, George, Samuel, John, Emil, Paul, Rudy, and Albert and sisters Elizabeth Lalak, Anna Zimmermann and Lillian Vagovsky.
He was a kind, patient and generous man who was devoted to his family and will be greatly missed.
Visiting hours are Thursday 4 - 7 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ.
Funeral Service is Friday, 10:00 am at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 233 South Highwood Ave., Glen Rock, NJ 07452. Interment will follow at the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
Memorial donations in Edward's name may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
