Obituary of Catherine McGarry

Catherine T. McGarry (nee Twomey) of Midland Park passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Born and raised in Manhattan, Catherine graduated from St. Jean the Baptiste High School, Grace Institute and received her Associate degree from New York University. She was a faithful member of the Church of the Nativity and a member of the Rosary Society. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, devoted to her family. Her Irish wit, smile and her loving and generous ways will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Ambrose. Cherished children, Philip, Ambrose, Jr., his wife Kathy, Cathy Murphy her husband Chris, Monica McGarry Adametz and devoted daughter-in-law, Judy McGarry. Adored grandmother of Amanda, Laura, Matthew, Emily, Philip and Caroline. Catherine is predeceased by her son, Christopher, her sister, Margaret Keane and her brother, Edmund Twomey. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9th, 2015 from 4-8 PM at VanderPlaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff, NJ. The funeral mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect St., Midland Park, NJ on Friday, July 10th at 10 AM. Entombment will follow at Ascension Cemetery Mausoleum, Airmont, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement Graymoor, P.O.
