Dear gentle brother,
It has been almost a week since you moved from earth to Heaven, and it is still hard to believe that I will never touch or hug you again this side of Heaven.
I want to share here some of what I shared at the service we had to remember you, it is such a small token that only captures a fraction of the depth of feeling I have. You have touched deep places in my heart.
I am so thankful for the good memories that we have had together that I will treasure until we meet again in Heaven.
I am thankful that my husband and your brother-in-law, Paul, was able to be there to be part of many of these memories with us. He loved you so much.
I remember going to holiday events with you where you worked years ago.
I remember making picnic lunches and taking you out for your birthday a few times to enjoy the outdoors.
I remember taking you on camping weekends to a wonderful place in Pennsylvania, your laugh and what fun we had in the car going to and from.
I remember how God opened many doors so that you could live at a wonderful group home, Willow Lodge at ECCR in Wyckoff. You were loved and appreciated for your happy personality, a light to all around you. It was so much fun to attend events with you there.
I remember your courage during these last 9 months of your life spent in the hospital and care center…your ready smile, coloring and doing things with you when you were able; and then holding your hand, massaging your shoulders, praying with you, and stroking your arms with my heart full of love when you became unable to move.
Now all of that is part of the past, and right now I picture you seeing Jesus, running and walking tall, talking clearly for the first time, and look forward to our first real conversation some day soon in Heaven.
Until then, dear brother, I love you, and will miss you so very much."
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Psalm 116:15

Good bye, Johnny. You have been an awesome brother. You have taught me so much. I thank God for you and all of the things I have learned about Jesus because of you. I will miss you and your big smile and your "thumbs up" and your big heavy hugs and our funny laughs together. I will miss you being my prayer buddy as you were over these past 9 months. It has always been hard for me to say good bye to you so today is very hard. But I also have a great deal of happiness knowing that you ran a strong and faithful race and that you have finished well and are with Jesus who, I am sure, is telling you "Well done thou good and faithful servant", because of the way that you handled your disabilities so well and to His glory. I love you, Johnny. Good bye for now.

I first meet John in 1978. Strong and joyful, loved to play silly games like leg flips. He would get roaring with laughter. When ever I came to visit he was the most fun to greet with open arms, He'd jump up and show such happiness, every time. Even in the last year he would do thumbs up with such emphasis. I'd love to see his face now, with Jesus.

Oh so many memories. My heart and thoughts are filled with them. My most sincere prayer all my life is that my dear little brother would be healed. He is now. He is with Jesus who he loved and set free from his body, set free to hear, speak, walk tall and strong, run and glorify our Dear Lord and Savior.
