Obituary of Kevin McMackin

McMACKIN, Kevin age 23 of Oakland passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015. Born in Ridgewood, Kevin was a lifelong resident of Oakland. As a volunteer, he served the community of Oakland on the Fire Dept. Yet, his true passion was the First Aid Squad, where he served as the 1st Lieutenant EMT. In between his time serving his own community, he served as a Lieutenant for Englewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps. As a Dispatcher, Kevin worked for MicCom, an Emergency Communications Center, out of Hackensack University Medical Center. He cared nothing more than to give his heart and soul to all that surrounded him. To most, Kevin was sought out as a mentor and a true friend to all. He touched many lives in his short life, more than he ever knew. With his witty humor he could always put a smile on one's face, no matter the situation. Surviving Kevin are his loving Parents, Barry and Lisa (Hopf), his maternal grandmother, Eva Hopf and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. Kevin was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Ray Hopf, and his paternal grandparents, Eugene and Bernice McMackin. The McMackin Family will receive friends on Friday June 12, 2015, 2 - 4 pm as well as 7 - 9 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:30 pm and an Emergency Services Tribute at 7:30 pm.
