Obituary of Paul Parker
PARKER, Paul G., age 47 of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey died on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, he was educated at The University of Cape Town. He moved to the United States in 1997 and lived in Rhode Island and Bergen County before settling in Pompton Lakes in 2004. He worked as a Computer Consultant for BMW in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey since 1999. He was instrumental in the formation and development of volleyball in South Africa and coached the top-ranked Black Panthers Volleyball Team. An avid squash player, he was an active member of the Wayne YMCA Squash League.
Paul was a loving husband to wife Amanda (Mandy) Abrahams and a doting father to Amy and Tyla. He leaves behind his parents, David and Millicent Parker, brother Mark Parker, sister Sharon Ohlson, sister-in-law Geraldine Parker, brother-in-law Donny Ohlson, and nieces and nephews Kurt, Nicole, Sean, Julian and Megan.
Visiting hours are Saturday, March 24 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will be immediately followed by a Service of Remembrance at 5:00 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. A reception will be held following the service at The Village School, 100 West Prospect Street, Waldwick, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made to the children's educational fund.
