Obituary of James Van Wieren

VAN WIEREN, James age 93 of Wyckoff, died peacefully at the Christian Health Care Center on Monday, May 25, 2015. Jim was born in Prospect Park and lived in Wyckoff for the past 65 years. He was a self-employed carpenter. Jim served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff and served as both Elder and Deacon. Surviving are his devoted daughters, Diane and her husband Anthony Monterisi and Carole and her husband Bruce Jacobs. Jim also leaves his 3 adoring grandchildren, Kyle, Stephanie and Jaclyn Jacobs. He was pre-deceased by his wife Grace (nee Balkema) in 2014, his sister Dorothy Balkema and brothers, Bernard and Nicholas Van Wieren. Jim will always be remembered as a man of integrity, and for his gentle manner and warm smile. The family will receive friends on Thursday 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral service will be held Friday 11:00 AM also at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers; memorial contributions in Jim's name may be made to the Christian Health Care Center, 301 Sicomac Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
