As a neighbor and fellow VN vet Bob and I had several common interests that we talked about. Our discussions included the "war", horticulture, hunting dogs, and in particular bagpipes and Celtic music. Rest in Peace!

As a young 2LT I served with Sgt. Ebersbach in the 11th Pathfinder company. Bob was a great young Sgt. and always was there to help everyone in the unit. It was many years since we served in VN but were able to reconnect at the Pathfinder reunions. His family should be proud of his service to his country. Airborne

It was my privilege to be Bob's company commander at Ft. Benning and in Vietnam during the hard fighting in 1965-66. He was an outstanding and respected young paratrooper and a fine junior NCO.In later years we stayed in contact and became good friends at our various reunions. All that knew Bob and served with him will truly miss him. Rest well, old Blackhat. Airborne! All the way!

Hearing about this very much saddens me as Bob was my closest friend when we served in RVN. We went through Pathfinder School together & vied for Honor Student, which Bob ended up winning! Our bunks were next to each other in the Corporal's Tent in Ahn Khe & he even had a picture of my sister above his bunk, as they were writing at one time. We did not spend much time in the field together as he was GS team & I was in the 227th. We would run into each other on the semi- permanent forward LZs when passing through to the combat LZs. I remember one night at the Rubber Plantation when Bob, me, Dennis Thomas & I think Bostick were huddled in a couple of fox holes way out on the far perimeter by ourselves while the LZ was under attack, mortars exploding all around & VC running through us.
Bob was a quiet guy & took his job & life seriously.
I was really looking forward to seeing him at our 50th reunion at Ft. Benning this Fall.. RIP buddy!
