Obituary of Agnes Heerema

HEEREMA, Agnes (nee Meyer) age 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the Holland Christian Home in North Haledon. Agnes was born in Galesburg, Iowa on December 10, 1913. She was a resident of Haledon for more than 50 years before moving to the Holland Home in 2002. Before raising her family Agnes was a Registered Nurse. She was a member of the Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff, and earlier the Bethel CRC in Paterson. While at Bethel she was a member of the Booster Board and the Ladies Aid Society. She was also a member of the former Paterson General Hospital Nurses Association, and very active in the Green Pond Chapel during her summers at the lake community. Surviving are her devoted children, William C.,Jr. and his wife Marcia L. of Hawthorne, Roy G. and his wife Peggy C. of North Haledon, Carole L. and her husband Jim Brinks of Wyoming, MI and Marcia A. Heerema and her husband Michael Hoffman of Fillmore, CA. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, her sister Ada Pontier, and sister-in-law Gertrude Baker. Agnes was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 53 years, William C. Heerema in 1993. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, 11:00 am at the Chapel of the Holland Christian Home, 151 Graham Avenue, North Haledon. Visiting is Tuesday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Hill CRC Legacy Fund for Christian Education, 422 Cedar Hill Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481; Grandville Christian School, 3934 Wilson Avenue, Grandville, MI 49418; or Bethany Christian Services, 12-19 River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410.
