Obituary of Robert Woessner

WOESSNER, Robert J. age 60, died peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2008. Bob was born in the Bronx, NY on August 31, 1947. He lived in the Bronx before coming to Paramus and then resided in Waldwick for 35 years. Bob retired as Detective Lieutenant from the Westwood Police Dept. after 30 years of service in 1999. In his later career, he worked as Security for Fair Lawn High School. He served his country as a Military Police Sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Bob was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. Surviving is his loving wife of 37 years, Janice (nee Cardo), his devoted sons Robert J., Jr. and his wife Nicole of Waldwick, and Kevin T. and his wife Anne Marie of Allendale. Bob also leaves his adored grandchildren Ava Marie, Ryan, and Kyle, his sister Margaret Zahn, and brothers Frank and William. Bob was predeceased by his brother Arthur in 1964. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 10:00 AM at Christ Community Church, 136 Wyckoff Ave., Waldwick, NJ. Internment will follow at the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Visiting is Monday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave.,Wyckoff. (www.vpfh.com).
