Obituary of Adele Smith

SMITH Adele Lillian died on Tuesday, October 11, 2011. Born at home in St. Albans, Queens, NY she had lived in Waldwick for 51 years. She worked for Werner & Pfleiderer for twelve years. Adele cherished her family above all else and her giving and generous spirit was a gift she gave to all. Her passion was sewing and her greatest pleasure was creating clothing and other sewn articles for those she loved . Adele is survived by her beloved husband of 60 Years, Melvin Smith of Waldwick, her loving children, Cathy Smith-Stroud Youmans and her husband Terry of Waldwick and Daniel Smith and his wife Adik of Mahwah; her five grandchildren: Jason Stroud, Jessica Youmans, Vanessa Graelles, Veronica Mann and Victoria Smith; her five great-grandchildren: Madeleine and Lucas Stroud, Jordan, Trey and Marissa Mann; and her sisters: Jean Maky of SC, Audrey Dross of FL, Nancy Miller of AZ, and a brother Kenneth Nielsen of FL. She was predeceased by her brothers: Walter, Victor, Henry and Daniel Nielsen, and her sister Lucille Duprey. Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. Funeral Service, Friday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home followed by interment at Redeemer Cemetery, Mahwah. Memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312, would be appreciated.
