Obituary of Raymond Maniaci

MANIACI, Raymond J., age 59 of Wyckoff, returned to God peacefully on March 10, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of 38 years of Elizabeth. Devoted father of Cara Behrman and her husband Lorne, and Raymond Nicholas. Adoring Pop-Pop of Lila. Brother of Rosann Rogalski and her husband, Stephen, David Maniaci and his wife, Nancy, and Paul Maniaci and his wife, Donna. Brother-in-law of Robert Sidari and his wife, Karen, and David Sidari and his wife, Vicky. Ray was loved by his many nieces and nephews: Stephanie and her husband, Sean, Marc, Matthew, Alexa, Nicholas, Anna, Rocco, Julia, Nicole, David, Jennifer, and Nicole. He was the loving nephew of Mario and Constance Minichini, Elfrieda Arthur, and Al and Marguerite Martin. Raymond was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Anna Maniaci. Raymond was a graduate of Paterson Catholic High School where he was well-known for playing lead guitar in the band, The Crystal Ship. He went on earn a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Monmouth College of New Jersey. While in college, he met the love of his life, Elizabeth. They married after graduation and raised a beautiful family together. Aside from his love of music, Raymond enjoyed sports. He coached his son Raymond's Torpedoes soccer team for several years and was an avid NY Jets and NJ Devils fan. He and Bet enjoyed cooking and traveling to their favorite vacation spot, St. John. Raymond was the Chairman of Nicholas Markets, Inc., a family business with Foodtown supermarkets in North Haledon and Cedar Grove. He also operated the Grand Opening Liquor store in North Haledon. Visiting hours are Wednesday 3 - 8 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral Mass is Thursday, 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth's RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481. Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714.
