Obituary of Wendy Schwehm

SCHWEHM Wendy Helliesen, 64, of Ridgewood, New Jersey, passed away on February 19th, 2015. She was the wife of the late Edward William Schwehm. She was born in Manhattan, NY in 1950 to late parents Audria and Robert Helliesen. Wendy was graduated from Susquehanna University and received her Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology/Sociology. Wendy was a homemaker living in Ridgewood, though her real passion lay in Cape Cod. She spent much of her time taking care of her two homes in Chatham and loved to be in Cape Cod with her family as much as she could. She loved to sail and taught both of her children. She was active in the Junior Women's Club of Ridgewood and volunteered at Children's Aid and Family Services. She was also very involved with her children's schooling, volunteering in the Ridgewood Home and School Association. In her younger years, she was an executive buyer at Stern's and enjoyed tennis, skiing, gardening, singing, and playing guitar. She rode a motorcycle and had her airplane pilot's license. She is survived by her son, Edward Adam Schwehm and his wife Annie with their two daughters Mia and Kaley, of Stoughton, MA; her daughter, Kristina Ashley Schwehm and her fiancé Kevin Rudolph with their son Liam, of Montague, NJ; her brother, Robert Helliesen and his wife Kathy, with their children Emily, Robert and Elizabeth of Berkley, CA; her stepsister Carole Peyton and her husband Robert, with their children Annie and Kristi of Westfield, NJ; and step-brothers Allen Morgan with his wife Laura and G. Byron Morgan with his wife Jessica and their familes. Wendy was the sister of the late Douglas Helliesen. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Children's Aid and Family Services of Paramus, NJ. Funeral arrangements will be held at West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood, NJ on Saturday, February 28th. There will be a viewing at 12 PM and a service at 1:30 PM with a reception to follow afterwards. Wendy and Ed will be buried together in Chatham in a private ceremony.
