Obituary of Clara Hayter
Clara R. Hayter passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015. She was 92. Born in Manhattan, NY she lived in the Bronx until she moved to Waldwick in 1956. She was an active parishioner at St. Luke's Church in Hohokus where she worked in the grammar school library, a member of their rosary society, and the Senior Lucans. Clara was also a member of the Brownstone Quilters Guild. Before retiring in 1987 she worked as an administrator for IBM in Franklin Lakes.
Her husband David A. Hayter died in 1978. She is predeceased by five brothers, eight sisters and son-in-law Joseph DeBenedictis.
Survivors include her two daughters: Christine J. DeBenedictis, Margaret M. Hayter, son; Andrew D. Hayter, his wife Jo Ann, granddaughter Teresa C. DeBenedictis, grandson Christopher D. Hayter, a great granddaughter Kahloe and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at St. Luke's Church, 340 N. Franklin Turnpike, Hohokus at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah. Memorial contributions in Clara's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or to St. Luke's Church.
