Obituary of Llewellyn Gates Wray

WRAY, Llewellyn Gates "Gates" went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 9, 2008. Born in East Orange he lived most of his life in Midland Park. He also lived for several months in New York City. A 1954 graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, New York, NY, Gates was a concert pianist having studied under Vladimir Horowitz, Carl Roeder and Beveridge Webster. He was a piano teacher extraordinaire who was beloved by his students and family. Gates was a member of Saint Mary's Episcopal Church in New York City and All Saints Episcopal Church in Glen Rock. He is survived by his dear sister Nancy Wray Tamlyn of Millbrook, NY, his three nephews; Reverend Walter Bruce Tamlyn of Silver Bay, NY, Reverend Keith Wray Tamlyn of Wappinger's Falls, NY and Rick Tamlyn of Studio City, CA. Gates is also survived by his cousin Ruth Ellen Fondeur of Florida. Gates is the son of the late Llewellyn H. Wray and Dorothy G. Wray (nee Gassin) Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 40 Central Ave., Glen Rock, NJ 07452. Funeral service, 1:00 in the church followed by interment in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
