Obituary of Marjorie Goudsward
Marjorie P. Goudsward passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2015. She was 82. Born in Royal Oak, Michigan she was a long time resident of Waldwick. Marjorie was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood which she attended for nearly 70 years, volunteering and teaching Sunday School. She was an avid traveler. Her journeys with her husband brought her to Europe and across much of the U.S. Though she may have visited the cultural capitals of Paris and London, it was tiny little Pentwater, MI on Lake Michigan's peaceful shores, that will always hold a special place in her heart. She loved cooking and especially baking for her family, striving, in this fast food world, to keep alive the culinary traditions of her native Midwest. Long before the advent of hand-held devices, she was a multi-tasker, always keeping her hands busy with knitting or crochet during any time spent watching TV. The afghan blankets she knitted will be warming her family for years to come.
Marjorie is survived by her loving husband of 60 years James Evan Goudsward; two sons Douglas Goudsward, his wife Denise and James B. Goudsward; two grandsons Brian and Andrew; a niece Nancy McCallister. Marjorie is predeceased by her daughter Diana Goudsward Collentine and two granddaughters Kristy and Jenny; her parents; Norman and Jessie Polen; a brother Raymond Polen; and a sister Barbara Polen.
