Obituary of Vivian Anderson

Vivian Rassiga Anderson passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2015. She was 90. Born in Astoria, Queens, she was a long time resident of Orchard Park, NY, before moving to Franklin Lakes and then, recently, to Wyckoff. Vivian was a much sought after mezzo soprano soloist singing in many of the major churches of Western New York and with numerous symphony orchestras. She also taught piano and voice lessons. When living in Orchard Park she was a member of the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and founder and director of their bell choir. Over the years she was also Chairman of the Blood Mobile, a Girl Scout leader for 25 years and a nurse's aid. Later she became a member of Wyckoff Reformed Church where she served on the Fellowship Committee and played in the church's bell choir. Vivian was predeceased by her first husband, Robert E. Rassiga who died in 1967 and her second husband, Frank H. Anderson who died in 1999. Survivors include three daughters: Cynthia G. Bach, her husband Rev. David J.; Nancy Rassiga-Tripp, her husband William K.; and Suzanne Rassiga Foley, her husband James E. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Vivian's funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Wyckoff Reformed Church, 580 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff. The interment will take place at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Orchard Park, NY. Contributions in Vivian's name may be made to the Christian Health Care Center Foundation, c/o the Longview Assisted Living Facility, 301 Sicomac Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
