Obituary of Erika Holsman

HOLSMAN, Erika (Richter) "Ricky" age 93 of Midland Park, died peacefully on Thursday, December 25, 2014. Erika was born in Neisse, Germany, she came to the United States in 1950 settling with her family in Hawthorne. Erika moved to Midland Park where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law Nick and Ilona Papapietro in 1997. She was a member of the German-American Club in Totowa and attended the Church of the Nativity in Midland Park. Erika was an avid Knitter and loved doing her crossword puzzles. Surviving is her devoted daughter Ilona and her husband Nicholas Papapietro, her adoring grandchildren, Robin and her husband Donald Spano and Steven and Mark Woitscheck. Erika also leaves her loving great grandchildren, Nicholas and Haley and her sisters, Christa Lechel and Marianne Girlich. She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Charles. The Holsman family will receive friends on Sunday, December 28, 2014, 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral mass will be held Monday 11:30 AM at Church of the Nativity, 340 Prospect Street, Midland Park, NJ. Interment will follow at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa. Memorial contributions in Erika's name may be sent to the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, 2 Shelter Lane, Oakland, NJ 07436.
