Obituary of Garret Rozema

ROZEMA, Garret age 87 of North Haledon formerly of Wyckoff, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, February 24, 2012. Born in Paterson on September 23, 1924, Garry was a 57 year resident of Wyckoff before moving to North Haledon in 2004. Garry began and ended his career as parts manager for several automobile dealerships including McCrane Motors, Kevil Dodge and Fairway Dodge. He was an independent milkman serving the Bergen County area and also held an interest in Hawthorne Bowling Lanes. Garry was a member of the Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps in the European Theater. Other memberships included the Gloria Concert Band, the 8th Air Force, the 447th Bomb Group and VFW Post 7086 of Wyckoff and Midland Park. Surviving is his beloved wife of 64 years, Jeannette (nee Baker), his devoted children, Shirley and Clarence DeBoer of Paw Paw, MI, Linda Ten Kate of Midland Park and Gary and Joan Rozema of Midland Park. Garry also leaves seven loving grandchildren, Maria, Dan, Jeff, Brian, Becky, Lauren and Gar and 3 great grandchildren, Ryan, Daniel and Amelia. Garry was pre-deceased by his grandson Joel DeBoer in 2003. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2012, 11:00 AM at the Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church, 422 Cedar Hill Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Interment will be private in the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. The Rozema family will receive family and friends on Monday, 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ.
