Obituary of Grace Van Wieren

Van Wieren, Grace (nee Balkema), went to be with her Lord and Savior, on November 7, 2014. Born and raised in Midland Park, Grace lived in Wyckoff for most of her adult life. She was the oldest child of Garry and Berdina Balkema, both deceased. Grace was a former employee of Manhattan Shirt Company, and a member of Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church. She leaves behind her husband of 64 years, James Van Wieren of Wyckoff, her two daughters; Diane (Anthony) Monterisi of Midland Park and Carole (Bruce) Jacobs of Wyckoff, and three grandchildren; Kyle, Stephanie and Jaclyn Jacobs all of Wyckoff. Also surviving is her brother, Henry (Marge) Balkema of Franklin Lakes, sister-in-law Dottie Balkema of Midland Park, and her dear cousin, Florence Popjes of North Haledon. She was predeceased by her brother, John. Grace found much enjoyment and delight in spending time with her family, especially watching her grandchildren become fine young adults. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 10, 2014 from 4-8 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, 10:00 am at the funeral home. The interment will follow at Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery, Wyckoff. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, contributions in Grace's memory may be made to the Christian Health Care Center, 301 Sicomac Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
