Obituary of Arthur C. Ramirez

Ramirez, Arthur Christopher, age 71 died Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at his home in North Haledon. Born in Brooklyn, NY he lived in Upper Saddle River before moving to North Haledon 11 years ago. Arthur was a 1954 graduate of Brooklyn High School of Automotive Trades, a 1968 graduate of Rutgers University, where he was on the deans list and given an award to Graduating Senior for Greatest Achievement in both Scholastic Achievement and in Extra-Curricular Activities. In 1972 he graduated from Stonier Graduate School of Banking and later acted as mentor to the new students. Arthur was employed by the Hackensack Trust Co. in 1968, Garden State National Bank, as Senior Vice President and Branch Administrator, National Community Bank, as First Senior Vice President in 1980, Ironbound Bank, President in 1993 and most recently as Managing Partner in the Christopher Company since 1994. He was a member of the Hudson County Bankers Association, serving as President, the Republican Committee, USR Police Reserve night patrol, Trustee of Hackensack Medical Center Foundation, Trustee and VP of Girls Scouts Council of Bergen County, Trustee Planned Parenthood, Trustee and board member since 1994 of Ramapo College Board of Trustees and served as chairman, NJ Supreme Court, Arbitrator, member of the SCORE, Advisory Board; NJ Aviation Museum and Hall of Fame serving as VP and Trustee, President of EAA Chapter 501, Lincoln Park Pilots Association, Night School Teacher of American Institute of Banking, Host of Cable TV Show, "Wings Over NJ", Served as President of the Squawbrook Run Homeowners Association where he started "Talk of the Townhouse", Had been 2nd Lieutenant in US Army National Guard and Graduated OCS, and was currently the Flotilla Commander in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. Art's weekends were spent enjoying his passion, flying His Cessna in CAVU. Surviving is his wife Frances (nee Laino) Ramirez of North Haledon, his son, Scott and his wife Sandy Ramirez of Randolph, his daughter, Lois and her husband Richard Carr of Wyckoff. His grandchildren, Nicholas and Michael Carr, Stephen and Daniel Ramirez. Also surviving is his brother, John Ramirez of Florida. He was predeceased by his daughter, Karen in 1966.
