Obituary of Loretta Gaffney

GAFFNEY, Loretta M. (nee Colaprete) of Mahwah, died peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2008 at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. "Let it be known that Loretta Gaffney left this ordinary world and went to a place with beautiful fields of daffodils, butterflies and no more pain". Loretta was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Paramus before moving to Mahwah 12 years ago. She was a Teacher Aid at the Forum School in Waldwick. Loretta was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church in Mahwah where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was an avid runner, completing five New York City Marathons. Loretta participated in numerous walks for Breast Cancer, most recently the 40 mile Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in October 2007. Surviving are her devoted children, Jim and his wife Michele of Oakland, Patty and her partner Deanna of Apex, NC, Bill and his wife Julia of West Milford, John and his wife Mary Helen of Mahwah and Tim of Mahwah, her grandchildren, Jimmy, John, Kaitie, Krissie, Karen, Billy, Joey, Stephen, Sean, Johnny, Danny, Alyssa and Sean. Loretta also leaves her sisters, Elmirinda Schenne, Virginia Cody, Joan Trocchia and her brother John Colaprete. Loretta was pre-deceased by her husband James G. Gaffney in 1996 and her sister Patricia Beliveau in 2006. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 9:15 am from the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral mass will follow 10:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, 900 Darlington Avenue, Mahwah. Interment will be in the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Visiting is Monday 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Tuesday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
