Obituary of Bianca Claps

CLAPS, Bianca, (nee Colella) age 86, died Saturday, June 7, 2008, one month before her 87th birthday, at Hackensack Hospice. She was born in Popoli, Italy and came to the US in 1936 settling in the Bronx, NY where she resided before moving to River Edge 55 years ago. Bianca was a member of St. Peter the Apostle RC Church in River Edge and was a long time member of the Rosary Society. She was an active member of the Women's Club of River Edge. Bianca trained in New York as a seamstress and worked in the fashion industry for many years. She was the manager of the Fabric Tree in Paramus and then worked as a sales associate at B. Altman in Paramus for 16 years until she retired in 1988. Bianca is survived by her children Roy and his wife JoAnn of Randolph, NJ, and Rosanne and her husband Jerome Lombardo of Wyckoff and 6 grandchildren, Jessica Claps, Andrew Lombardo and his wife Melissa, Alexandra Claps, Jay Lombardo, Elizabeth Claps and Valerie Lombardo. She is also survived by her sister Frances Fagella of New York and her sister-in-law Ann Benardelli of Northvale. Bianca was predeceased by her husband Ludwig in 1992, her son Steven in 2000 and her sister Clara Visciglia. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481, www.vpfh.com. Funeral Mass is Wednesday 10::30 am at St. Peter the Apostle RC Church, 445 Fifth Ave., River Edge, NJ 07661. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
