Obituary of Mary McCrea

Mary McCrea (nee Heindel) died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the age of 86. She was raised in Fairview and then spent most of her adult life in Ridgewood raising her six children before moving to Cedar Crest in Pompton Plains. Mary is predeceased by her daughter Sally, her parents Andrew and Margaret, her brother Joseph and his wife Rita, her sisters Virginia and Peggy and her brothers-in-law Gene, Eddie and Ed. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Richard, her daughter Susan of Willis, VA, her son Richard and his wife Pat of Tampa, FL, her son Thomas and his wife Lisa of Paramus, NJ, her daughter MaryJane and her husband Walter of Greenwich, CT and her daughter Erin and her husband Gene of Wyckoff, NJ. She is survived by her grandchildren Glenn, Brian, Rebecca Brianna and her husband Nick, Cayla, Richard, Alec, Tucker, Kiley, Casey, Fiona and Carl. She is survived by her great grandson, Logan. She is also survived by her sister Martha of Apple Valley, CA, and many loving nieces and nephews. Mary will be missed for her in-depth knowledge of professional hockey stats, and her love of the NJ Devils. Mary spent her whole life loving and educating children. She started her teaching career in 1952 in the Paramus school district. She then stayed home with her own children before returning to teach Kindergarten and Preschool at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Ridgewood. She then taught basic skills to children in the Mahwah school system before retiring. Mary's children, grandchildren, great grandchild and all her countless students were blessed by her kindness and loving nature. She will be missed but remain in our hearts forever. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday 2 - 4, 7 - 9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral Mass Wednesday 11 AM at St. Elizabeth's R. C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. Interment Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509 New York, NY 10018 would be greatly appreciated.
