Obituary of Norman Cordes

Norman Cordes died on Thursday, September 18, 2014. He was 87. Born in Philadelphia, PA he was a longtime resident of Ridgewood, living in Tinton Falls in his later years. Norman was a veteran of the US Army having served during WWII. He was the founder and owner of Cordes Printing Inc., in Wyckoff before retiring in 2000. He graduated from The Kings College, now located in New York City, obtaining his bachelor's degree. He was also member of Grace Church in Ridgewood for 35 years. Mr. Cordes was an avid printer and also enthusiastic in his involvement in the wood working club in Seabrook Village while residing Tinton Falls. Norman was predeceased by his first wife Ruth G. Cordes in 1993 and his second wife Lucille Cordes in 2011. He is survived by his four children; Brenda S. Hynes, her husband Thomas, Cindy L. Clark, Mark S. Cordes, his wife Wilma, and Donna J. Lehmann, her husband Joseph, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 3 sisters: Mildred Enchelmaier, Ruth Schlehahn, Irene Schneider, 3 step children: Elaine Hayden, her husband Ron, Lynn Desch, her husband Kevin, Peter Daly, his wife Roseanne, 11 step grandchildren and 1 step great grandson. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 2:00 - 6:00 PM at Vander Plaat Funeral Home (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM in the funeral home and the interment will follow in Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa. Memorial contributions in Norman's memory may be made to the Star of Hope Ministries, Inc.,34 Broadway, Paterson, NJ 07505.
