Obituary of Frank Leone

Frank Leone died on Sunday, September 7, 2014. He was 87. Born in the Bronx, NY he was a long time resident of Oakland. Frank was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy. He was the last active remaining presidentially appointed US Postmaster by Lyndon B. Johnson in Oakland for 48 years before retiring in 2012. He the past fire chief, a councilman, the civil defense director and a member of the Chamber of Commerce all located in Oakland. Frank is survived by his wife of 60 years Ellen Leone, two daughters Rosemary Stahl her husband Steven, Ann Marie Scherer her husband Edwin, a son Frank Leone his wife Laura, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a brother Bonifacio P. Leone. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the service time at Cornerstone Church, 495 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM in church and the interment will be private. Contributions in Frank's memory may be made to the Cornerstone Fellowship House Building Fund, where Frank was a long time member, or to the Christ Community Church, 274 Spring St., Newton, NJ 07860 where Frank's son is a pastor.
