Obituary of Albert Van Grouw

Van Grouw, Albert, Jr. age 80 of Midland Park formerly of North Haledon, died peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2014 at the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff. Born and raised in Prospect Park, Albert moved to North Haledon in 1977 before moving to Midland Park 7 years ago. He was a Textile Designer for Century Woven Label in Prospect Park and then Kalkstein Silk Mills in Paterson until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the Ebenezer Netherlands Reformed Church in Franklin Lakes. Surviving is his loving wife of 59 years, Marjorie Jean (nee Bush), his devoted children, Albert Van Grouw, III, Janet and her husband Ray Santhouse, Carolyn Slootmaker and Nicholas Van Grouw and his wife Joy. Albert is also survived by his nine adoring grandchildren Henry John (Liz), Jennifer (Kurt), Rebecca (Kevin), Robert, Rachael (Dominic), Jessica, Jacqueline, Jason and Brittany and his great grandson, Jaylen. Albert also leaves his sister Marie Drost. The Van Grouw family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral service will be Wednesday, 12 noon at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Netherlands Reformed Christian School, 164 Jacksonville Road, Pompton Plains, NJ 07444 or the Christian Health Care Center, 301 Sicomac Ave, Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
