Obituary of Harold Janson
Jay Janson of Midland Park, NJ and formerly of South Portland, ME and Nantucket, MA, died peacefully Thursday August 28th, 2014 at home. He was 75. Jay was born on November 21st, 1938 in Newark, NJ to Harold W. Janson, Sr. and Anne (Kazimir) Janson. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Patricia. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth (Shea) Janson of Nantucket, his children Harold (Bill) and daughter Deborah (Debbie) Yacos and their spouses Paula and Mark; four grandchildren; Harold (Bill), Ryan, Amanda and Spencer; his siblings Carl Teschke, Mary Ann Bowcock, Judy Janson and Stephen Janson. Jay served 21 years in the United States Navy, including the Viet Nam War and numerous locations in the Middle East. He also served 20 years in the Merchant Marines traveling throughout the world. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6th from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:30 PM at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ with a final resting place on his beloved Nantucket at a later date. We will never forget his charismatic personality, his zest for life and his warm and caring spirit. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Valley Hospital Hospice C/O Valley Hospital Foundation, 223 N. Van Dien Ave., Ridgewood, NJ 07450.
