Obituary of Robert Fleckenstein
Robert Otto Fleckenstein, of Ridgewood, died Saturday, August 16. Born in Union City, he was the son of Otto and Erminia (Vergnani) Fleckenstein, of Habichstahl, Germany and Arbon, Switzerland.
Mr. Fleckenstein was a graduate of Rutgers College, where he was captain of the soccer team, and Fordham University School of Law. Mr. Fleckenstein was a captain in the United States Air Force and Vice-President of Government Relations at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.
Mr. Fleckenstein is survived by his beloved wife Alice (Kelly), children Maria, Richard, and Elise, daughter-in-law Christine, son-in-law Jeffrey Creegan, and grandchildren Charles and James Fleckenstein and Robert, Raymond, and Patrick Creegan. Mr. Fleckenstein was predeceased by his cherished granddaughter Kelly Elisabeth Creegan. Mr. Fleckenstein is also survived by his sister Mary and her husband, Joseph Seiber.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Vander Plaat Funeral Home (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:45 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Passaic St., Ridgewood. Interment will follow in Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes.
