Obituary of Harold Brown
Harold D. Brown, Jr. died on Saturday, August 9, 2014. He was 87. Born in Brooklyn, NY he moved to Allendale, NJ in the early 1930's, where he lived until retiring to Williamsburg, VA in 1991. He returned to NJ in 2005, moving to Pompton Plains. Harold spent his career as a commercial electrical designer. He was a P. M. of the Fortitude Lodge and a P.P. of the O.E.S. Ridgewood Chapter. He is a former member of the Masonic Lodge #6 and Wellspring United Methodist Church in Williamsburg, VA. He served in the US Army during WWII and Korea. Harold is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Marjorie J. Brown, his daughter Sheryl L. Ahearn, her husband Michael J., his son Stephen L. Brown, his wife Susan T., and four grandchildren, Sean Ahearn, Stephen Brown, Jr., Sabrina Brown and Sasha Brown, a brother Robert Brown and a sister Col. Meta Seltzer. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Rev. Donald Brown in 2013.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 4-7 PM at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. At 7PM an Eastern Star service will begin followed by a Masonic service then a religious service at 7:30. Contributions in Harold's memory may be made to the Masonic Home, 902 Jacksonville Rd., Burlington Twsp., NJ 08016 or to Bloomingdale Animal Shelter Society (B.A.S.S.), P.O. Box 24, Bloomingdale, NJ 07403.
