Obituary of Kathryn Volino

Kathryn M. Volino (nee Loveley) went peacefully home to the Lord on Monday, August 4, 2014. She was 71. Born to Cosma J. and William J. Loveley on December 17, 1942, she was raised in Yonkers, NY. She lived briefly in Scarsdale, NY before relocating to Glen Rock, NJ where she resided for 45 years and was an involved member of the community. Kathy was active in the church at St. Catharine's in Glen Rock and at St. Mary's in Pompton Lakes, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and member of a Bible study. Kathy earned a degree in psychology, part-time, while raising her family, graduating with honors from Ramapo College in NJ. Kathy founded and managed a successful elder care consulting business, C.O.P.E. - Creative Options in Planning for the Elderly, blessing many families with her expertise and loving guidance for over 25 years. Throughout her life, family was primary in Kathy's heart. She was a loving and supportive wife and mother. Kathy greatly valued relationships with extended family and a large circle of caring, loyal, and beloved friends. She was an energetic and devoted grandmother and had a special connection with each of her precious grandchildren. She was joyfully involved in each of their lives, celebrating and engaging in their individual interests and passions. Kathy fully embraced life. She traveled extensively and especially loved Italy, leading her to learn the language. Kathy was a master of all things domestic. She was an expert seamstress, gourmet cook, talented pianist and enjoyed crocheting and needlework. She loved sharing these gifts with others. Kathy also had an artistic aptitude. She loved to paint and draw and had a special flair for decorating. She was an avid gardener. Her splendid yard and garden brought joy to her and all guests to her home. She appreciated the simple pleasures of nature and especially enjoyed the outdoors through walking, swimming and playing tennis. She delighted in the culture and excitement of New York City, enjoying restaurants, museums and the theater. She enriched the lives of family and friends with her incredible gift of entertaining. She brought people together for any and all occasions, sharing her joy of food, music, dancing and celebrating with those she loved. Kathy is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years Francis A. Volino, with whom she traveled the world and shared many years of adventure, happiness and love; her son Francis B. Volino and his wife Kathleen, their children Alyse, Benjamin and Harrison; her daughter Christine M. Hannon, her husband Kevin and their children Craig, Christopher and Kyle and two sisters, Dr. Margaret M. Vacek and Ms. Eleanor A. Loveley. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 from 4:00-8:00pm at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00am at St. Catharine's Church, 905 South Maple Ave., Glen Rock. Interment will be private.
