Obituary of Edward Hollema

HOLLEMA, Edward, Age 86, of Midland Park, died peacefully at home on Monday, June 23, 2014. Ironically, Ed passed away in the same room he was born in, he was a lifelong resident of Midland Park. Ed was a 60 year member of the Midland Park Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as President of the Fire Dept. Assn., secretary of the Relief Assn and secretary of the Exempt Assn. Eppie, as he was known among his many friends from Midland Park, was a member of the Grandview Rod and Gun Club in Cobleskill, NY. He had over 50 years of service in Plumbers Local #24 in West Caldwell, NJ. Ed served his country proudly in the United States Army during the later years of World War II. Ed is survived by his devoted children; Edward H. and his wife Cheryl of Forked River and Marianne Van Houten of Rock Tavern, NY, 5 grandchildren: Laura, Mark, and Greg Rosen, and Edward R. and Brian Hollema. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife Harriet (nee Vander Brink) in 2013. The Hollema family will receive family and friends on Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral services will be Friday, 11:30 AM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Valleau Cemetery in Ridgewood. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Ed's name to the Midland Park Ambulance Corps., 471 Godwin Ave., Midland Park, NJ 07432, or the Midland Park Volunteer Fire Dept., 45 Witte Drive, Midland Park, NJ 07432.
