Obituary of Richard Steinbruch

STEINBRUCH Richard E., age 85 of Mahwah, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 30, 2014. Born and raised in Mahwah, NJ. Dick graduated from Ramsey High School in 1946 and proudly spent his 18th birthday on a military troop ship in the Pacific Ocean. After a year in occupied Japan, he came back to the United States and attended Pennsylvania Military College, after which time he met the love of his life, Nancy with whom he married and enjoyed the rest of his life. In 1952, he was accepted into the New Jersey State Police. During his 28 year career with the State Police, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant commanding several different stations throughout the state. Richard dedicated his life to helping others. Joining the Cornerstone Christian Church in 1961 - he and Nancy committed themselves to the Lord and to the caring for others. He was predeceased by his wife Nancy. He is survived by his son, Robert W. and his wife Cheryl of Wyckoff, his son Michael and his wife Amy of Little Egg Harbor Township, his daughter, Fidencia Castrillo of Ramsey, his five beloved grandchildren: Dana, Brittney, Kurt, Jaclyn and Courtney, and his great grandson Thomas. The Steinbruch family will receive friends on Saturday, June 7 from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cornerstone Christian Church.
