Obituary of Hazel Walker

Walker, Hazel May Barker, (nee Beck), died peacefully Wednesday, May 21, 2014 on her 96th birthday. She was born and resided in New Bedford, MA before moving to Wyckoff in 1975. Hazel was a former member of the Friendship Circle associated with South Baptist Church, New Bedford, MA. She was a former member of the Broadway Baptist Church, Paterson and currently an active member of Christ Community Church, Waldwick. Prior to her retirement, Hazel was a Food Manager for the City of New Bedford Board of Education. Hazel was a volunteer for the Valley Hospital Auxiliary for 10 years. Hazel is survived by her daughter Lynne Barker of Vail, CO, her son, Wayne Barker and his wife Jill of Sloatsburg, NY and her stepchildren, Anne Oosting and her husband Ken of Midland Park, Lynne DiGilio of Wayne and Norris Walker of Wayne. Also surviving are her seven grandchildren, Nathan Barker, Paul & Yun Jin Coffman, Kimberly Trenchard, Matthew & Hillary Oosting, Rudi & Georgette Oosting, Amy & Glen Biswurm, and Julia & John Raudenbush, and her 12 Great Grandchildren, Minnie, Aengus, Mathilda, Jude, Gavin, Evie, Carolyn, Aidan, Skye, Ashleigh, Caleb and Katie. Hazel was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Albert Walker in 2012 and her 3 sisters and 1 brother. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Christ Community Church, 136 Wyckoff Ave. Waldwick, NJ from 9 am to 11 am followed by a Service at 11 am. Private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Church would be appreciated. Arrangements by the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ.
