Obituary of Viola Schwier

SCHWIER, Viola A. (nee Mansmann) age 95 of Wyckoff and North Haledon, died peacefully on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff. Viola was born in Paterson on September 22, 1912. She lived in North Haledon for 42 years before moving to Wyckoff in 1999. Viola was a member of the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, the Senior Crusaders of the Church and the Eastern Christian Ladies Circle. Loving mother of Pearl and her late husband Sam Abma of Mahwah, Elsie and her husband John Golden and Joan and her husband Don Mabie of Wyckoff, eleven grandchildren and thirty one great grandchildren. Viola was pre-deceased by her husband John R. Schwier in 2005, her great granddaughter Elise Gorter in 2003, and her brother and sisters, Harry, Ethel, Agnes, Helen and Lillian. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 10:00 am at the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, 183 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park. Interment will follow in the Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery. Visiting is Wednesday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Viola's memory to the Elise Gorter Scholarship Fund, c/o the Eastern Christian School Association, 50 Oakwood Avenue, North Haledon, NJ 07508, or the Christian Health Care Center, 301 Sicomac Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
