Obituary of Norma Holland
HOLLAND, Norma June (nee Adams) age 89 of Oakland died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, April 14, 2014. Norma was born in Paterson and lived in Wyckoff for more than 30 years before moving to her farm in Oakland in 1987. She was a graduate of Montclair State Teachers College and taught in Boonton High School. Norma was a member of the Wyckoff Reformed Church for more than 50 years. She was a lifetime member of the Oakland Garden Club during which time she enjoyed, with her other garden club members, providing a monthly Horticultural Therapy Program at the Oakland Care Center.
Norma was a lifelong horse lover and an accomplished rider that enjoyed the sport into her seventies, and the care of her animals through her 88th birthday. She also was an avid gardener that loved the beauty of nature.
Surviving Norma are her devoted children, Julie E. Holland and Noel R. Holland both of Oakland. Norma was pre-deceased by her husband Robert T. Holland in 1999. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 18, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Wyckoff Reformed Church, 580 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Interment will follow in the Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery. The Holland family will receive guests on Thursday 3:00 until 7:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Health Care Center, 301 Sicomac Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
