Obituary of Doris Marie Bajak

Doris Marie Bajak passed away peacefully in Allen, TX, with her loving children by her side on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the age of 97. Born on August 2, 1920 in Portland, Oregon to Joseph Warren McColpin and Doris Margaret (McCarthy) McColpin and raised in Los Angeles, she worked as an administrator with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers prior to her marriage.  A loving wife and mother, Doris was a longtime resident of Wyckoff, NJ, before moving to Fairview, TX. While residing in Wyckoff, she was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth’s Church, a member of the Decorative and Fine Arts Society of Bergen County, and a member of the Friends of the Wyckoff Library.  Doris was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a parishioner of St. Jude’s Church in Allen, TX.  She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Bajak; brothers Major General Carroll W. McColpin and Robert McColpin; and sisters Monica Gauld and Rita Bates. She is survived by her daughter Doris McGuinness and her husband James of Fairview, TX; son Curtis Bajak of Wyckoff; grandsons James Robert McGuinness and Kyle Henry McGuinness; and sister Lolita Hope Sheehan of Cotati, CA. Visitation for Doris will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah.
