Obituary of Eileen J Paterson

Eileen J. Paterson, (nee Connolly) age 92, of Allendale, passed peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2018 at home.  She was born in Jersey City and has been a resident of Allendale for 57 years.   Eileen was a parishioner of Guardian Angel RC Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Rosary Altar Society.  She also volunteered with the Valley Hospital Auxiliary at Kurth Cottage, was a member of the Women’s Evening Club of Allendale, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Friends of the Allendale Library.  Eileen is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Robert E. Paterson of Allendale and her loving children; Carol McCormick and her husband Kevin of Guilford, CT, Joan Garrand of Waldwick, Donald Paterson and his wife Jeanne of Seattle, WA and Jeffrey Paterson and his wife Ewa of Rutherford. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Drew McCormick, Devon McCormick, Jack McCormick, Allie McCormick, Jordan McCormick, Christopher Garrand, Sean Paterson, Kaitlyn Paterson, Georgia Paterson and Grace Paterson and seven great grandchildren.    She was predeceased by her two sons, Richard Paterson in 2014 and Robert B. Paterson in 2017 and her son-in-law, Stephen Garrand in 2016.  Visiting hours are Friday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ 07481. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, 11:00 am at Church of the Guardian Angel, 320 Franklin Turnpike, Allendale, NJ 07401. Private cremation was held.  As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Eileen’s memory may be made to Guardian Angel RC Church or Allendale Volunteer Ambulance Corp., 26 Arcadia Road, Allendale, NJ 07401.
