Obituary of Louis A. Cassella

Cassella, Louis A. age 85 was born in Passaic in 1931 to Anna & Roland Cassella, Lou grew up in Passaic and Union. He graduated from Seton Hall Prep in 1949 and continued his education at Villanova University, graduating in 1955 with a BA in Economics. Lou served his country in the US Army from 1955-1957. Upon his return, he continued his education at Montclair University and earned a Masters in Social Studies in 1964. Lou began his career in education as a Social Studies teacher at Thomas Jefferson High School in Elizabeth, spending the majority of his years in public education at Pascack Hills High School in Montvale. In 1986, he continued his teaching career at Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, NJ until his retirement in 2016. Lou is survived by his wife of 56 years, Geri (nee Rinaldi), his children Margaret Heisey & Jim Rose of Scotch Plains, Gregory & Angela Cassella of Manalapan, Nanette Cassella & Christopher Dukes of New York and his son­ in-law Dave Heisey of Scotch Plains. Among Lou's favorite people are his grandchildren: Leighton, Cameron & Cooper Heisey; Alexandra, Anthony & Vincent Cassella & Haley & Cullen Dukes. Lou was predeceased by sister, Rita Cassella Jones. Lou is also survived by his niece and four nephews and beloved cousins and their families, close friends and colleagues who will miss his daily emails and insights on all that is happening in the world. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Paul’s RC Church, 200 Wyckoff Avenue, Ramsey, NJ. Private Cremation will be held. In Lieu of flowers donations should be made to, Don Bosco Preparatory High School, 492 N. Franklin Tpk. Ramsey, NJ 07446 or St. Paul Social Concerns Ministry, 193 Wyckoff Ave. Ramsey, NJ 07446 would be appreciated.
