Obituary of Barbara H. Nickau

NICKAU Barbara H., 69, of Upper Saddle River, died Monday, May 23, 2016. Born in Ridgewood, Barbara lived there before moving to Upper Saddle River 41 years ago. She was very involved with the fostering of dogs, housing over 500 dogs in the past 10 years. She enjoyed taking the dogs to her summer cabin in White Lake, NY where all the neighbors would enjoy playing with them. Barbara was very animal friendly having not only dogs but also ducks. She also enjoyed adding antique finishings to her house which was built in 1828 and is on the Upper Saddle River Historic Registry. She is survived by her loving husband William “Bucky” Nickau. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 31, from 2:00 to 4:30 pm followed by a service of remembrance at 4:30 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory can be made to the Guiding Eyes for the Blind, 611 Granite Springs Road, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598.
